NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICS

ROLE
CHIEF CREATIVE CONSULTANT

CLIENT: FX

CASE STUDY:

The main title design for National Geographic channel’s Explorer unified hundreds of hours of archival footage around a single theme: now. Each clip created a sense of urgent immediacy through intentional glitches and transmission irregularities whether they featured nature, science, conflict, or exploration.

The result is an incredibly visceral show opening. After our frenetic edit was locked, Punk Animation Wizard Patrick Coleman and our team rapidly iterated through a wealth of design and animation mechanics in search of the "language of now". We utilized a variety of "glitch" techniques on footage and graphic elements, nodding to footage uploads from such remote areas and the compression errors that may occur.
